East Harmony Road Bridge Replacement Preparations Set to Begin
Release Date: Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Contact Information:
Jin Wang, P.E., Project Manager, 970-416-2292,
The City is pleased to announce it has received a $1.6 million grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation to replace the East Harmony Road Bridge. The bridge, built in 1968, is inadequate to handle the volume of traffic that travels the Harmony Corridor and does not meet current safety standards. A new bridge will correct these deficiencies.

Road Widening
• Preparations for the bridge replacement begin in mid-October with the widening of the westbound Harmony Road between Strauss Cabin Road and Lady Moon Drive.
• The westbound bike lane will merge with traffic during construction.
• Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction for motorists.
• Preparations will conclude in late November.

Bridge Replacement
• The bridge replacement will take place from January-June 21010.
• Delays will occur as traffic is moved from one side of the bridge to the other.
• Lane closures during final road stripping should also be expected.

When complete, Harmony will have three travel lanes, a bike lane, and sidewalk in each direction from I-25 to Timberline Road.

The project is funded through a combination of City matching funds and a Surface Transportation Program grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
