In response to City Council's Oct. 7 adoption of the 2008 Bike Plan, City staff have begun implementing of one of the bike plan's several recommendations. The Community section of the 2008 plan recommends forming a local bicycle advisory committee to steer the implementation of additional recommendations.
The Bicycle Advisory Committee will bring together community organizations to prioritize continual bicycle improvements in Fort Collins. The 15-member committee will include representatives from City Boards and Commissions, Colorado State University, the Downtown Development Authority, UniverCity Connections, and Poudre School District. Including multiple voices will foster communication as they work to develop the best options for implementing the remaining Plan recommendations. Fort Collins residents are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming information meetings to learn more about the bicycle advisory committee and ask questions of staff: 6 p.m., Nov. 18, at Lee's Cyclery south location, 931 E. Harmony Rd. 6 p.m., Nov. 24, at the Community Room at 215 N. Mason St. |
