NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER GROUNDBREAKING
Groundbreaking ceremony and open house

FORT COLLINS – The beginning of a new Northside Aztlan Community Center is to take place on Wednesday, October 25 at 4:30 p.m. Join us on the west side of the building at 112 E. Willow for the groundbreaking ceremony. Speakers will include Fort Collins Mayor Doug Hutchinson and City Manager Darin Atteberry. Shovels and piñatas will signify the beginning of construction. This will be followed by refreshments and an open house to give attendees an opportunity to observe various activities offered at Northside.
The current 15,000 square foot Northside Aztlan Community Center was opened in 1978. The new facility will be over three times the size of the current Center and will be located in the parking lot of the existing facility. The new Center will feature gymnasiums, elevated track, multi-purpose rooms, kitchen, classrooms, and work out facilities. It is scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2007.
The existing facility will continue to function during construction, a portion of the new parking lot will be constructed for use by the public during the construction, and access will be via Pine Street. For more information, contact Jean Helburg at 221-6354.
