The City of Fort Collins’ Mediation & Restorative Justice Services (MRJS) will host an open house from 5 - 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the MRJS office, 112 N. Howes St. for residents to learn about the programs.
These quarterly open houses are an opportunity for residents to learn about the City’s Restorative Justice and Mediation programs. Seating is limited, so those interested in attending the open house should RSVP to 970-416-2290 or email PGFjbGFzcz0=">a21lbGVuZGV6QGZjZ292LmNvbQ==.
The City’s Mediation program provides free, confidential conflict resolution services to Fort Collins residents. The program provides a safe, effective and neutral environment where residents can create their own win-win solutions with the aid of trained volunteer mediators.
Restorative Justice Services offers youth offenders a court-diversion option that promotes resolution for victims and repairs the community harm caused by the youth’s actions. The program strongly encourages offender accountability, personal development, and re-integration so they can return to productive community life with a clean record. Participants have typically committed a misdemeanor offense such as shoplifting, trespassing, or damaging property. The program relies heavily on volunteers; in 2016, 66 volunteers donated a total of 2,310 hours.
