Police Investigate Worthington Avenue Shooting
At 10:20 p.m. on January 31, 2017, Fort Collins 9-1-1 received reports of a shooting in the 2700 block of Worthington Avenue.
When officers responded to the Worthington Ave residence, they located a male and female with gunshot wounds. Katlyn Mitchell and Cameron Salazar were transported to area hospitals for treatment and were later released.
Investigators learned that Mitchell and Salazar had been in communication with Able Maki and two juveniles earlier in the evening. Maki and the juveniles came to the residence and a physical disturbance ensued. Shots were fired by multiple parties, and Maki and the juveniles fled. Several hours later, police were notified that one of the juveniles had arrived at Poudre Valley Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Officers have identified and contacted all involved parties. Cameron Salazar (DOB 12/17/1994) was arrested for First Degree Assault. Able Maki (DOB 11/8/95) was arrested for First Degree Assault and Attempted Aggravated Robbery. Both were booked into the Larimer County Jail. This case is still under active investigation, and additional charges are pending. All charges are merely an accusation and suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
