On March 6 at 3:49 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a two vehicle collision at the entrance to the Larimer County Landfill on S. Taft Hill Rd.
A 1983 Dodge passenger van was travelling northbound on S. Taft Hill Rd. when it struck the rear of a 2003 Mack garbage truck. The Mack truck was stopped in the northbound left turn lane waiting to turn west into the Larimer County Landfill.
The driver of the van, Charles Hallenbeck, 29, of Fort Collins, was extricated from the vehicle by Poudre Fire Authority personnel and taken to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries.
The operator of the Mack truck, Jose Garcia-Rocha, 46, of Evans, was not injured in the collision.
Police had S. Taft Hill between W. Trilby and W. Harmony Roads closed for approximately 4 hours for processing and investigation. It is not believed alcohol was involved in the collision.
