On February 4 at about 8:45 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of an injury collision south of Mulberry Street on Timberline Road.
A 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling south on Timberline Road and lost control on the icy roadway. The vehicle slid broadside into the northbound lane of Timberline Road. A full-sized 2003 Chevrolet van was traveling north on Timberline Road and collided with the passenger side of the Chrysler.
The driver of the Chrysler, Andrew Conrad, 17, of Fort Collins, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet van, Erik Palmer, 29, and his passenger, Marcos Barrios, 17, both from Fort Collins, were taken to Poudre Valley Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Timberline Road was closed between Mulberry Street and Prospect Road for approximately 4 ½ hours while investigators processed the scene. Police do not believe alcohol contributed to the collision. Conrad was likely driving too fast given the condition of the roadway. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-221-6555.
