The City of Fort Collins will start reconstruction on two structurally deficient bridges Thursday, January 2, 2014. The first bridge crosses beneath Mountain Avenue east of Whitcomb Street and second bridge crosses beneath Myrtle Street east of Sherwood Street.
The City will conduct construction activities within these areas through spring 2014 to reconstruct the bridges. In order to complete the construction, there will be closures of both Mountain Avenue and Myrtle Street in the vicinity of the bridge repairs.
Construction on both project sites will include removal of existing culvert boxes, replacement with new boxes, storm sewer work, and roadway improvements. The Mountain Avenue site will receive new concrete paving and new median landscaping. The Myrtle Street will receive new asphalt paving, curb and gutter, and concrete sidewalks.
