Two Fort Collins Councilmembers named to National League of Cities (NLC) steering committees for 2014 will provide local knowledge to help other communities around the country.
The Colorado Municipal League (CML) announced that Mayor Pro Tem Gerry Horak and Councilmember Wade Troxell have been appointed to two separate NLC committees:
“Kudos to … Fort Collins … for your active and engaged NLC participation for 2014,” said Sam Mamet, Colorado Municipal League Executive Director.
The NLC helps city leaders build better communities. The organization partners with the 49 state municipal leagues, such as CML, and serves as an advocate and resource to more than 19,000 cities, villages and towns.
With the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee Horak will help develop policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetland policy, noise control and solid and hazardous waste management.
As a member of the University Communities Council, Troxell will share opportunities and challenges unique to Fort Collins where CSU is a major factor in the community. Important issues include: economic development, transportation, infrastructure, sustainability, noise, housing and partnerships between the university and city or town.
