The nationally recognized Fort Collins Senior Center opened in 1995 and has been operating at capacity since opening day. With Larimer County's 65+ population projected to grow by more than 140% over the next 20 years, Fort Collins voters in 2005 approved a $5.1 tax increase to expand the Senior Center. The expansion will create an additional 17,000 sq. ft. adding multi-purpose rooms, a cardio-fitness room, a dance and exercise studio, additional storage space, a larger lobby and social cafe, a wellness center, new administration space, and more parking.
The Senior Center Expansion Committee, a citizen-led 501(c)(3) non-profit, was formed to raise awareness about the need for the expansion and the additional funds needed to support the project. For more information, visit SeniorCenterExpansion.org.
