On Nov. 6, 2013 at approximately 6:09 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services responded to an accident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist near the intersection of Laurel and Shields Streets in Fort Collins.
Based upon the investigation and statements collected from witnesses, both the vehicle and the bicyclist were travelling north on Shields Street approaching Birch when the bicyclist turned in front of the vehicle and was struck by the left front corner of the vehicle.
The bicyclist is a 21-year-old Colorado State University student and was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of the Rockies.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and exited the vehicle for a short period of time before getting back in the vehicle and leaving the scene of the accident.
The vehicle is described as a white sedan with black door handles. Damage to the vehicle is likely minor, but is expected to be on the left front corner of the vehicle.
The driver is described as a white female, between 25 and 30 years of age, with straight long dark hair. The female is approximately 5’6” to 5’7” tall, and weighs between 175 lbs and 200 lbs. Her clothing was described as a pink and orange shirt under a white cardigan sweater, and blue jeans
The intersection of Laurel and Shields Street is closed while investigators processed the scene.
