Shields and Westbury Final Paving Starts October 18

This news was released 289 days ago and may contain inaccurate information.

Upon completion of Xcel Energy’s High Pressure Gas Replacement, the City of Fort Collins is scheduled to complete asphalt paving on South Shields Street between Harmony Road and Wooded Creek Court. Lane closures will be required to complete the work beginning October 18 thru October 23; weather dependent.

Shields Street will be open to one-lane of traffic in each direction throughout the paving process.  Side streets which feed into Shields Street will have access except for a minor amount of time as the paving equipment passes these streets.  The travelling public can expect delays in this area and is encouraged to use Taft Hill Road and College Avenue as alternate north-south routes.

The new asphalt and striping will complete this section of roadway to a four lane arterial section.  These improvements are specifically targeted at reducing the peak hour congestion at the Shields Street and Westbury Drive intersection.

Project dates are estimates based on favorable conditions; variances may occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
