MAX Construction Alert: McClelland Drive Paving Begins Sept. 26

In preparation for MAX Bus Rapid Transit, McClelland Drive from Drake Road to Horsetooth Road is scheduled to be repaved this fall as part of the City of Fort Collins 2013 Street Maintenance Program.

Construction will begin Thursday, September 26 and will be completed in approximately 3-4 weeks. Working hours for the project will typically be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; however, work may occur outside these times or on weekends to expedite the project. McClelland Drive will be closed in phases according to the plan below; side streets will also be closed adjacent to the work zone. Drake, Swallow, and Horsetooth roads will remain open throughout the project.

Phase 1: McClelland Drive from Drake Road to Swallow Road
• Work begins Thursday, September 26.
• Duration anticipated – 9 working days.
• McClelland Drive will be fully closed in this section, including side street access.

Phase 2: McClelland Drive from Swallow Road to Horsetooth Road
• Work begins Tuesday, October 8.
• Duration anticipated – 9 working days.
• McClelland Drive will be fully closed in this section, including side street access.

The project schedule is an estimate based on favorable conditions; variances may occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Alternate routes are suggested to avoid the construction zones. Detour routes include College Avenue, College Frontage Road, Horsetooth Road, Drake Road and Shields Street. Business access will be maintained and signed from the College Avenue Frontage Road throughout the project.

MAX is on the Way!
Construction of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system will continue until early 2014, with MAX service beginning in May 2014. MAX will offer passengers efficiency and convenience, with 12 stations and 2 transit centers between Downtown and Harmony Road, service every 10 minutes, and real-time bus arrival information at each station. MAX will connect Downtown Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Midtown and south Fort Collins, providing many new economic redevelopment opportunities near station locations.
