The Allstate Insurance Company released its ninth annual Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report™ today. Fort Collins topped the list for the third year in the report’s history, as America’s safest drivers. According to the report, the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 13.9 years, which is 28.2 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years.
The City of Fort Collins is honored to receive this designation which is the result of a variety of factors including:
• Citizen attentiveness to good driving behaviors
• Local focus on distracted driving
• Good roadway designs and street maintenance
• Strong community value and awareness towards safety
• Strong emphasis on the enforcement of traffic laws.
All these factors combine to help Fort Collins achieve this distinction.
"For the third year, in the report’s history, we’ve earned the title of the “Safest Driving City in America” due to the responsible behavior and safe driving habits of our residents. Safety is a critical component to creating a world-class city; we have our residents to thank as they are undoubtedly the reason Fort Collins is one of the best places to live, work, and play. I’m honored to be a part of a community that is consistently recognized as one of the nation’s best,” stated Mayor Karen Weitkunat. “I think it is also important to credit our outstanding Police Services and Traffic Operations, both of which work day in and day out to ensure that the City is safe for residents to drive in.”
