As Part of the 2013 Transformer Cabinet Mural Project

Fort Collins- 16 artists and one non-profit group will be painting utility transformer cabinets this summer as part of the 2013 Transformer Cabinet Mural project. The project, started in 2006, is a collaborative effort between The City of Fort Collins Utilities Light and Power and the Art in Public Places Program. This exciting project is designed to help mitigate graffiti on transformer cabinets that are often tagged. The APP Program utilizes local artists and community groups to help solve this problem and to enhance our community. The project has enjoyed great success in lowering maintenance costs and bringing original artwork by local artists to unexpected places in
the city.

The artists painting cabinet murals this year include: Chris Bates, Ren Burke, Amelia Caruso, Cynthia Danielle, Diane Findley, Susannah Franklin, Jamie Gastelle, Ryan Guillaume, Jennifer Ivanovic, Sam Polce, Lisa Cameron Russell, Stan Scott, Werner Schreiber, Gale Whitman, Katherine Warren, Laurie Zuckerman, and Poudre Community Academy.

The artists will be painting at various times throughout the summer, and are at different stages of completion. Art lovers will be able to find artists scattered around town with their murals in every stage, from the beginning sketches, to painting the finishing touches, and at every point in between.

The project continues to grow, and at the end of this season there will be a total of one hundred and sixty-six painted cabinets. For a downloadable map of locations being painted this summer and all cabinet mural locations, please visit the APP website at www.fcgov.com/artspublic.
