Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) crews have been busy on Harmony Road between McMurry Avenue and Timberline Road preparing to install the new railroad signal system. The weekend of May 11-12, Harmony Road lane closures will be required to accommodate conduit boring machinery. Work is being done on the weekend to minimize disruption to the traveling public. Please note the construction schedule below:
May 11-12: Harmony Road, McMurry Avenue to Timberline Road
• Lane closures; eastbound and westbound travel open
• Eastbound Harmony Road will be restricted to one outside right-hand lane east of Lemay Avenue through McMurry Avenue
Detour routes are recommended via Lemay Avenue to Horsetooth Road to Timberline Road. Signs will be clearly posted and flaggers will be present. Two eastbound Harmony Road travel lanes will re-open the afternoon of Sunday, May 12 adjacent to the Union Pacific crossing.
Federal railroad compliance regulations prevented the previous opening of Harmony Road to a 6-lane crossing last year. The final Harmony Road/UPRR Crossing safety improvements are scheduled to occur in mid-May and June of 2013. Upon completion, Harmony Road will be finished and fully open. Union Pacific crews will continue to work on the new signal system over the next few weeks. Please slow down and avoid distractions while travelling through the construction zone.
