Should Restaurant and Bar Patios be Smoke-free? City Asks You to Take a Smoking Survey.
Released on Monday, February 4th, 2013
Beth Sowder, Neighborhood Services Manager
In 2003, Fort Collins was one of the first communities to designate bars, restaurants and workplaces as smoke-free. Today, City staff is considering expanding smoke-free areas to include outdoor dining areas and bar patios. Staff is gathering community feedback and asks residents to complete an online survey by February 15, 2013 at fcgov.com/smokingsurvey
Is it time to change the ordinance? What do you think about exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke in outdoor dining areas and bar patios? Your input will help shape the future of smoke-free laws and air quality in Fort Collins and will be shared with City Council later this year.
Staff will also conduct interviews with bar/restaurant owners and their employees and mail a survey to 1,000 randomly-selected citizens. For more information on this effort and to take the survey, please visit fcgov.com/smokingsurvey
