Fort Collins Utilities Light and Power crews are moving utility lines and equipment in preparation for the MAX Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). A lane of westbound Horsetooth Road at McClelland Drive will be closed April 16 - 27. Crews will be digging in the intersection to relocate vital utility facilities prior to construction of the MAX guideway. A portion of southbound McClelland Drive will also be closed during the utility work. The Mason Trail’s crosswalk across Horsetooth Road will be closed. The pedestrian and bicyclist crosswalk detour is at Manhattan Avenue. Work may be completed early, weather permitting.

Bicycles and pedestrians are urged to use caution around the work zone. No power outages are expected in the area as crews work on the lines and facilities. Traffic delays are expected during peak travel times in the immediate area.

Relocating power and communication lines and other subterranean infrastructure preparation work is taking place this spring in advance of the construction of the MAX BRT guideway. Please travel safely in construction zones.

About Mason Corridor
Mason Corridor is an economic initiative enabled by transit. When complete, it will combine transit, trails, public infrastructure and private investment to spur redevelopment along the corridor. Crafted by community members, the vision that was created sixteen years ago is becoming a reality.

MAX is on the Way!
MAX will link major destinations and activity centers along the corridor including the Downtown commercial, Colorado State University, Foothills Mall, and South College retail areas. MAX will operate nearly twice as fast as auto travel along College Avenue, and provide high frequency service every 10 minutes. Future regional transit connections will link to MAX at the new South Transit Center.

The $87 million project is funded 80 percent by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The remaining 20 percent is available from the City of Fort Collins, Downtown Development Authority, CSU/Colorado State University Research Foundation, and Colorado Department of Transportation.
