Fort Collins police are continuing the investigation into the shooting this morning.
The victim has been identified as 22 year-old Jamie Warfield of Fort Collins. Warfield is a CSU student in the process of completing her last course before graduation. Warfield was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of a single gunshot wound.
Warfield, accompanied by several friends, had been downtown earlier in the evening and were walking to her home in the area of Myrtle and Remington Streets when the incident occurred. There was no altercation and the shooting appears to be random.

Police Investigate Shooting
Fort Collins police are investigating a shooting which happened about 1:50 a.m. today. The shooting victim is a 22-year-old female who lives in Fort Collins.
Witnesses reported the victim and several friends were walking in the area of Myrtle Street and Remington Street in Fort Collins. They reported seeing a vehicle approach them at a slow speed and then hearing a gunshot. After the gunshot, the victim female fell to the ground and was found to have suffered a single gunshot wound to her mid-section. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of the Rockies where she is being treated.
Witnesses variously reported the vehicle as a darker-colored truck or possibly a light or dark-colored SUV.
