Arrest Made in Port of Entry Hostage Incident

Samuel Ervin Brown, 49, (DOB 4-10-60) of Columbia, South Carolina was arrested Tuesday evening at approximately 9:40 p.m. after holding two Colorado State employees hostage at the northbound Port of Entry weigh station on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins. The employees were held briefly at knife point after issuing Brown a citation and instructing him to park his truck until 7:00 a.m. The incident lasted approximately ten minutes before Brown was taken into custody by Fort Collins Police. No one was injured in the incident.

Brown was booked into the Larimer County Detention Center on two counts of 1st Degree Kidnapping (F2). His booking photograph is attached.
