Natural Areas Stories
This site is dedicated to sharing natural area stories with the world.
While visiting a City of Fort Collins natural area, people see and hear a variety of wildlife, witness stunning sunsets, are awed by prairie wildflowers in the springtime, and so much more. At this site, read about other citizens’ experiences in Fort Collins natural areas and share some of your own. What is the feeling of riding the Foothills bike trail after a long day at work? Did you learn something new while reading about prairie dogs at Cathy Fromme Prairie? Were you startled by a rattlesnake at Coyote Ridge? Did you watch an amazing sunset from Cottonwood Hollow? Natural areas provide new and exciting experiences every time we visit them. Don’t keep those experiences to yourself - share them! And read what others have shared.
Lots of people keep journals of their experiences in natural areas. Together, we’re creating Fort Collins’ natural areas journal.
Stories that have been submitted are categorized by natural areas (shown in the left sidebar). The number shows how many stories have been submitted about that natural area. Click on a natural area to read the stories about that site. Click “General” to read natural area stories that are not about a specific site.
Then come back to this page and submit your own story. Anyone can submit a story to be published on this site. On the submission page, you may enter the name “anonymous” if you do not wish to be identified.
