Poor of Me, Good of Dog: The May Wilkins Exhibit opening June 6

If, as we say, a picture is worth a thousand words, what stories does an 80 year old snapshot have to tell us about the moment captured within it? What personal and historical details are reflected in objects saved over an individual's lifetime? Explore these questions and more in the Fort Collins Museum exhibit, Poor of Me, Good of Dog: The May Wilkins Collection. May Wilkins moved to Fort Collins with her husband, newspaper editor Don Wilkins, in 1937 and lived here for over 50 years. Her extensive donation to the Museum includes hundreds of letters, newspaper clippings, and photographs; plus her personal collection of dolls and toys. Poor of Me, Good of Dog: The May Wilkins Collection uses this rich legacy to present May Wilkins' life and to examine her first person perspective on personal, community, and world events in the second half of the 20th century.
Opening reception to be held at 5 PM on Friday, June 6, 2008.
