If you have a Fort Collins Municipal Court traffic ticket and the penalty assessment portion on the front of your ticket has been filled out, you may plead GUILTY and pay the ticket before your court date. Some tickets have "early settlement" offers. To take advantage of the early settlement (which may include a point reduction), you must pay the ticket within 20 days of the date you received the ticket. If you miss the early settlement option, you may still pay the ticket before the court date without the addition of the $25.00 Court Cost; however, the original points will be assessed against your driving record.
If the penalty assessment portion or early settlement is not filled out (for example, in most motor vehicle accident cases), payment before your court date is not an option because your appearance for arraignment is mandatory.
With some Fort Collins Municipal Court misdemeanor tickets, a plea of guilty may be entered and the fine paid without appearing in court. To find out whether this is an option in your case, please call the Fort Collins Municipal Court Clerk's Office.
