There’s a new spirit at the globally-acclaimed dance company, Ailey II, as Troy Powell steps into his new role as Artistic Director during the 2012-13 season. The veteran Ailey dancer and choreographer has been Ailey II’s Associate Artistic Director since 2003. Now he is bringing a fresh dimension to this beloved company of emerging dancers and choreographers. “I aim to keep Alvin Ailey’s legacy alive, while keeping things young and fresh as well with this new generation of artists,” says Mr. Powell.
