Healthy Tidbits

Mindful Holiday Eating Tips at Home!

• Give your favorite holiday comfort foods a healthy twist. Add fresh fruit to desserts and pair rich dishes with fresh vegetables.

• Avoid the lure of overindulging in holiday leftovers by cooking only enough food for one meal, or re-package leftovers into single-serving portions.

• Serve your holiday dinner in the kitchen and enjoy it at the dining table. You’ll eat less if the food bowls are not in front of you.

• Be conscious of
in-between meal nibbling.

Fast-paced Fun and Farce

Hitchcock meets hilarious in OpenStage Theatre's production of The 39 Steps running Jan 7th through Feb 5th in the Lincoln Center's Magnolia Theatre. This fast-paced comedy features four actors performing 39 different roles.

This Tony Award winning comedy combines Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 thriller of the same name with fun and farce in this fast-moving production. All the classic who-done-it elements are included - murder, spies, a handsome hero, his love interest and the ultimate discovery of the real killer.

Playwright Patrick Barlow takes considerable liberties with his source material – which also includes the original book by John Buchan – to poke great fun at spy stories in general and The 39 Steps in particular. The plot also pays homage to virtually every Hitchcock film, including a stylized version of a plane attempting to mow down the hero.

“We go from scene to scene quickly so it’s heavily choreographed and orchestrated. We have to make sure the actors don’t run over each other.” says Director Wendy S. Moore. “It’s a terrific evening of fun. No one’s going to think a new thought, but I guarantee they’ll have a hilarious time.”

Staff Performance Pick of the Month
STOMP
- By Victoria Erickson, Lincoln Center Publicity/Marketing Specialist

My pick for a guaranteed good time is STOMP!!! It’s edgy and unique. Although I have seen STOMP a few different times, it never gets old. The cast takes lifeless everyday objects like hubcaps, brooms and paint cans and uses them to create living, breathing musical sounds and mind-blowing rhythms. You won’t be able to help but bump your body to the beats!

I want to go too!
