FAQs

What is the mission of the Lincoln Center?

The mission of the Lincoln Center is to be a leader in cultural experience and make it an essential value to the community.

What is the Lincoln Center?

The Lincoln Center is one of Colorado’s largest and most diverse presenters of professional theatre, dance, music, visual arts and children’s programs. It features two performing art spaces (a 1,180-seat performance hall and a 220-seat theatre), three galleries, and an outdoor sculpture/terrace/performance garden. It also has three conference/special events rooms available for rentals.

How many shows does the Lincoln Center do each year?

The Lincoln Center as a presenter brings in approximately 70 performances each year through its Showstoppers, Anything Goes, Classical Music, Dance, Adventure Cinema and Imagination Series. In addition, the Lincoln Center is “home” to many local arts groups, as well as being a favorite venue for many national promoters -- creating a total of more than 300 performances per year. (Although the Lincoln Center may handle the ticketing and facilities management for these outside events, sound levels, technology arrangements and other production details are determined by the promoters.)

Why aren’t all 300 events listed in your season brochure?

The Lincoln Center brochure focuses on the performances that Lincoln Center presents, about 70 each year. Local arts groups that host a season at Lincoln Center are included on their own page. Other performances are added throughout the season and may not be included in the brochure.

Who decides what shows are presented by the Lincoln Center?

Lincoln Center staff works with community committees to make programming decisions. Committee members are typically series subscribers who are representative of the audiences from that particular series. In addition, staff evaluates which shows are touring and how their schedules fit into the season, the cost of the show, whether the show can be performed on the Lincoln Center stage, and the quality of the company producing the show. In addition, any individual or organization can rent Lincoln Center rooms for any private or public performance or other use.

Who determines ticket prices?

Tickets for Lincoln Center-sponsored shows are determined largely by production costs and the number of seats in the performance hall (1,180). Local arts groups, promoters and others renting the performance spaces establish their own ticket prices.
