Children's Garden

kids playing in Children's Garden

Year Opened: 2006
Garden Designer: EDAW Inc. Landscaping

Our first garden open to the public, the Children's Garden is filled with numerous inviting areas for curious kids to explore, discover and grow. This area helps connect children and their families to nature, foster a “sense of place” and educate them about horticulture, botany and ecology. Its themes of community, gardening and sustainability are found throughout the various features of the garden, including the Friendship Growing Garden and Green-roof Shelter.

The Children's Garden features all areas of the entire Gardens, on a smaller scale suitable for youth learning, as well as a number of art installations.

Featuring:

  • Rock garden
  • Secret gardens and willow huts
  • Pond (with fish!) and bridge
  • Green-roof shelter
  • Giant watering can with active splash waterway
  • Dr. Seuss playhouse and sandpit
  • Interactive Discovery Zone
