Where does the information come from that produces the map?
The data comes a variety of sources, including CCTV cameras and sensors that have been installed below the street surface.
How can I determine which direction the camera is pointing?
There is a legend adjacent to the photo that displays the direction the camera is pointing.
How often are the "Video Snapshots" updated?
The video images are currently updated close to every 20 minutes. Our goal is to get the update time to every 5 minutes.
How often are traffic speeds and congestion updated on the congestion map?
The traffic speeds and congestion levels are updated every 5 minutes.
I was in a traffic accident near one of the camera locations, is it possible you have the incident on video tape?
The Traffic Operations Department does not record or keep records of the video images.
Are traffic cameras used for police surveillance or investigations?
The cameras are only used to monitor traffic conditions
How many cameras does Traffic Operations have, and when and where will you add additional cameras?
There are currently 26 video cameras on the Fort Collins Traffic System.
Why are certain devices not working?
As with any mechanical or electrical device, there are times when maintenance is required or there can be malfunctions.
Do the cameras monitor speeders or red light violators?
The cameras used for traffic surveillance are not used for any Police actions.
What is the criterion for determining camera location?
The cameras are located throughout the city in an effort to get the best overall images of the traffic system. The cameras are primarily located on heavily traveled corridors.
How accurate is the road construction information?
Construction signing is usually fairly accurate. There are times when construction activities change on a moments notice in an on-going construction site which may result in minor changes.
