The City is reconstructing North College Avenue at Willox Lane to accommodate the new development occurring in the North College Urban Renewal Area. The North College Marketplace will open in 2011. A major intersection reconstruction project on College Avenue and Harmony Road beginns in April, with substantial completion by mid August. The College Harmony Intersection Project (CHIP) will affect many commuters, residents and local businesses. It's the fifth busiest intersection in the city and is one of the most damaged. The project will include newer, safer right turn lanes, designated bike lanes, safer pedestrian crossings, the installation of concrete pavement, and new signaling. Construction Projects in 2010 can be expected to cause traffic delays on certain streets. We will do our best to minimize simultaneous traffic impacts on parallel arterial streets. Full street closures are occasionally required for safety and efficiency, reducing construction time, expense, and impacts to the traveling public.
