Administrative Hearings & Neighborhood Meetings

Why Hold a neighborhood meeting?

Held early in the proposal's design phase, neighborhood meetings allow applicants an opportunity to present their proposal to adjacent neighborhoods and any impacted citizens. The meetings also allow residents to share their questions and opinions about the proposal to both the applicant and City staff.

After conceptual or preliminary design review, but before submitting a formal application, some applicants are required to or voluntarily hold a neighborhood meeting. The decision to require a meeting is based on the applicant’s proposed uses and the zoning of the proposed location. In almost all cases, all proposals requiring a board hearing (where the Planning and Zoning Board reviews the project) also require a neighborhood meeting prior to formal submittal. Staff may also recommend applicants hold neighborhood meetings if their proposal warrants extra public input.
