LED Lighting

LED lights

Conventional incandescent lighting is being replaced as more efficient technologies develop and prove to be reliable and affordable. Compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) is rapidly increasing its market share.

Light-emitting diode (LED) technology may be the next step in lighting efficiency. LED products are designed to have an even longer life than CFL products. LEDs are increasingly being used for traffic lights, holiday light strings, flashlights and nightlights.

LED bulbs and fixtures have recently become more widely available and affordable for residential and business lighting needs. It’s important to note these products represent an emerging technology and come in a wide range of quality. Some products may not deliver the performance you expect.

Before making the switch to LEDs, learn about LED technology and advice from ENERGY STAR® and the U.S. Department of Energy.

The ENERGY STAR label provides an easy way to locate energy-efficient products that meet program specifications. The list of ENERGY STAR qualified residential LED lighting fixtures is short but will likely grow quickly as manufacturers improve products and submit test results.
