Green Energy Program

As of January 1, 2010, residents and businesses in Fort Collins can purchase clean, renewable energy for an additional 1.9 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh).* This option is for customers who are willing to pay a little more for their electricity to guarantee that it comes from the cleanest sources available.

Fort Collins Utilities’ Green Energy Program has been certified by the Green-e program. The Green-e symbol provides assurance that our green energy meets the strict environmental and consumer protection standards established by the nation’s leading renewable energy certification program.

Our Energy Goals

In addition to the voluntary Green Energy Program, one percent of electric revenue is allocated for funding the renewable energy objectives of the Utilities Energy Policy (PDF 63KB).

*This price is subject to change. (As required by City Charter and City Code, a 6 percent PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) is added to all electric rates, including wind.)
