College and Harmony Intersection Improvements Project

The intersection improvement project also includes the last stage of improvements on West Harmony, from the BNSF Railroad tracks east to College.

Funding sources - 2005 Building on Basics (BOB) - Community Enhancement Projects, STP-Metro Federal and State Funds.

Estimated Project Budget - $5.5 million

Project Goals

Intersection improvements will relieve congestion, improve safety and improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The addition of concrete pavement in the intersection will require less repairs and maintenance in the future.

Detailed improvements on the project:

  • safer turn lanes
  • improved street lighting and signaling
  • uniform pedestrian and bicycle crossings
  • extended bike lanes through the intersection
  • safe sidewalks to and from shopping centers
  • installation of efficient stormwater removal system

Timeline

Fall 2009

The Project Design Team is currently finalizing conceptual design.

The Preliminary Design is under review. Items such as storm water design, property owner discussions and pavement design are elements in the Preliminary Design.

Winter/Spring 2010

Details on road closures, lane closures and detour routes available

Spring/Summer 2010

Construction on the College and Harmony intersection occurs
