ClimateWise - Technical Assessments

Once you have joined the Climate Wise Program, your organization will receive a free technical assessment to help identify efficiency related opportunities to energy, water, waste, and transportation aspects of your operation.  Based on such factors as business facility size and age of building, the ClimateWise staff will assist in determining the right type of technical assessment for your business or organization. The two assessment types are:

Self-Assessment Site Visit Assessment

Step 1: Fill out a Self-Assessment Form: The self-assessment form is a technical assessment designed to identify potential opportunities to improve your organization’s operational efficiency. Energy, water, waste and transportation will be addressed in the form.

Step 2: Receive an Assessment Report: Climate Wise staff will assemble an assessment report based on your self-assessment form. It will outline and prioritize your facility’s positive activities, recommendations for improvements, and resources to help facilitate these improvements.  The completed assessment report will be sent to you via email.

Step 3: Attend a Coffee Talk meeting: Climate Wise staff will notify you regarding upcoming Coffee Talks. These gatherings provide an opportunity for you to have questions or comments addressed about the assessment report in a small group setting.  Implementation of sustainable practices and details of the ClimateWise program are also discussed.  If you cannot make a Coffee Talk and would like to discuss your report contact Matt Gibbs at

Step 1: Complete Pre-assessment Form: In preparation of the free audit offered by ClimateWise, it’s helpful to get background data on your facility and operations as they relate to energy, water, waste, and transportation. Once you’ve joined the program, ClimateWise staff will provide you with the pre-assessment form and return instructions.

Step 2: Conduct Assessment: Climate Wise staff will contact you to schedule a time to conduct the assessment. The assessment will include an analysis of current sustainability practices and evaluate opportunities to further improve operational efficiency of your organization.

Step 3: Review Assessment Report: Once ClimateWise staff has completed your assessment report, they will schedule a post-assessment meeting with your organization. The meeting provides an opportunity for you and Climate Wise staff to review the report findings, discuss the implementation of sustainable practices, relevant rebates or cost saving opportunities, and details of the ClimateWise program.

Technical Support Doesn’t Stop at the Assessment Report!

Assessment report findings are just the start. As a ClimateWise partner you will receive free technical assistance in identifying, implementing, measuring, and reporting actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  The assessment report is meant to give you real world ideas on where to start with that next project, no matter what the size.  As exciting as this is the real payback is seen through taking action – and we are here to help.
