In 2006 the County formed a green practices committee to address environmental issues and help the county fulfill its mission statement of reducing the environmental footprint of County government. What does Climate Wise do for Fort Collins?The Climate Wise program is helping the Fort Collins community meet some of its greenhouse gas reduction goals highlighted in the Local Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions that was adopted by the Fort Collins City Council. So far, participating businesses in the Climate Wise program reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 100,000 tons of CO2e per year (as of 2008). The 2009 EnvirOvation took place on April 9th, 2009, from 3 to 5 pm at the Drake Centre (802 W. Drake Road), and it was very well attended. Approximately 500 citizens and Climate Wise partner representatives shared in the celebration of business and organizational achievements to greater sustainability and economic savings.
