The Larimer County Government is currently working toward reducing its impact on the environment. In 2006 the County formed a green practices committee to address environmental issues and help the county fulfill its mission statement of reducing the environmental footprint of County government. What does Climate Wise do for Fort Collins?The Climate Wise program is helping the Fort Collins community meet some of its greenhouse gas reduction goals highlighted in the Local Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions that was adopted by the Fort Collins City Council. So far, participating businesses in the Climate Wise program reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 100,000 tons of CO2e per year (as of 2008).
