2011-2012 Budget Process
Development of the 2011-2012 Budget is underway. It's uncommon for the City to develop the biennial budget in back-to-back years. However, the City is changing our budget cycle so that City Council elections and budget development do not take place within the same calendar year.

City of Fort Collins Budget 2010 - 2011
The budget is the financial plan for the City of Fort Collins. It details planned operating and capital expenditures. The budget document includes the appropriated/proposed expenditures for a given year and the projected means of funding them.
The budget preparation process for the City of Fort Collins involves input and cooperation among many groups and individuals, including: citizens, Fort Collins City Council, other governmental entities, neighborhood associations, council-appointed boards and commissions, and city staff.
The 2010 – 2011 Biennial Budget consists of two documents, the Operating Budget and the Capital Budget. The Operating Budget includes information on the expenses necessary to run the City government on a daily basis. The Capital Budget includes information on the City’s capital improvement projects. These projects are often the construction or renovation of a building, street construction, or major utility system improvements.
