Honoring Longtime Businesses

The City of Fort Collins recently honored companies doing business in Fort Collins for more than 75 years as part of the City’s inaugural Business Appreciation event

Mayor Karen Weitkunat and City Manager Darin Atteberry hosted the City’s first Business Appreciation Breakfast May 21 at the Fort Collins Marriott – a day that Mayor Weitkunat also proclaimed “Business Appreciation Day.”

Among those longtime businesses honored:

  • Allnutt Funeral Services
  • Black’s Glass
  • City Drug
  • Forney Industries
  • The Fort Collins Coloradoan
  • Fort Collins Heating and Air
  • Fort Collins Nursery
  • Markley Motors
  • Paul Wood Florist
  • Poudre Valley Hospital
  • Ranch-Way Feeds
  • Schrader Oil Co.
  • Silver Grill Café
  • Town Pump

City staff made all efforts to contact each of these businesses in advance of the Business Appreciation event. Business owners who weren’t listed or didn’t receive their plaques should contact SeonAh Kendall at (970) 416-2164.

“These businesses have helped make Fort Collins a vibrant city with its own unique character and diverse economic base,” said Josh Birks, director of the Economic Health Office. “We are honored to have them in the community.”
