At the November 27 City Council Work Session, City staff will present information about two waste reduction issues – cardboard recycling and limitations on single–use shopping bags.
With interest growing from many portions of the community about taming Fort Collins’ waste stream, the City Council has asked staff to explore two innovative approaches. One is the idea of incentivizing and/or requiring the local community to recycle more cardboard; the second area concerns limiting distribution of plastic bags in retail stores. Both issues have numerous options as well as pros and cons.
Go online to www.fcgov.com/cardboard and www.fcgov.com/plasticbags and leave your comments. Because unique concerns and questions may be raised by local businesses, you are encouraged to contact City staff prior to the November 27 so your comments can be shared with City Council.
Questions about the two recycling initiatives may be addressed to Susie Gordon in the Fort Collins Environmental Services Department, c2dvcmRvbkBmY2dvdi5jb20= or (970) 221-6265.
