The first Midtown Urban Renewal Authority project is making big progress this summer. The 600+ bed student housing complex is on schedule for opening in the fall of 2013.
This is one of the first tangible examples of redevelopment along the Mason Corridor. The vision is coming to life; the Commons is a mixed-use development with access to two MAX stations.
Over the last several months infrastructure was installed and now work has commenced on the buildings. The project’s mixed-use building, which will face College Avenue will go up first. Four floors of apartment living and ground level retail will give this section of the city a new, refreshed dimension.
Reservations and Information
Leasing agents want to start talking to students and families soon. The exact location of the leasing office is still to be determined, but project managers anticipate renting space in the Campus West area so students can view the project and sign leases without having to be at the construction site.
The Midtown Urban Renewal Authority’s participation in this development consists of storm water improvements and modernizing utilities on site. The buildings will be built to U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification standards and will include many energy efficient and sustainable building elements.
