December sales tax collections are based on retail sales made in November 2010.
Sales tax collections: $5,139,527 , an increase of 3.2 percent compared to December 2009. Year-to-date, sales tax collections have shown a slight increase. 2010 sales tax collections are up 2.4 percent compared to collections from all of 2009.
Use tax collections: $915,633, an increase of 14.6 percent compared to December 2009. Use tax collections for 2010 were up 19.7 percent compared to collections in 2009.
National collections: November sales tax collections (as reported on December 14) increased 8.1 percent compared to Fort Collins’ increase of 3.2 percent.
Building permit collections: decreased 13.9 percent in December.
Residential: 13 compared to 1 in December 2009. Residential remodels: 44 permits. In December 2009 there were 46 remodel permits.
Commercial: 2 permits for new construction, 26 for remodeling. In December 2009 2 permits was pulled for new construction, 23 permits for remodeling.
Sales tax licenses: The City received 58 applications for sales tax licenses for new businesses and 121 businesses terminated their license in December. Each December the City sees a sharp increase in terminated business licenses. This is due to annual filers notifying the City that they discontinued business during the year.
