October sales tax collections are based on retail sales made in September 2010.
Sales tax collections: $5,463,333 a decrease of 2.4 percent compared to October 2009. Year-to-date, the first ten months of 2010 have shown a slight increase in collections. As of October 2010 sales tax collections are up 1.8 percent compared to collections from January-October 2009.
Use tax collections: $1,204,571, an increase of 58.3 percent compared to October 2009. The use tax collections year-to-date are up 18.8 percent compared to collections for the first ten months of 2009.
National collections: September sales tax collections (as reported on October 15) increased 7.7 percent compared to Fort Collins’ decrease of 2.4 percent.
Building permit collections: increased 63.1 percent in October.
Residential: 20 compared to 15 in October 2009. Residential remodels: 55 permits. In October 2009 there were 72 remodel permits.
Commercial: 1 permit for new construction, 25 for remodeling. In October 2009 0 permits were pulled for new construction, 19 permits for remodeling.
Sales tax licenses: 83 net new licenses were issued.
