September sales tax collections are based on retail sales made in August 2010.
Sales tax collections: $5,479,342 an increase of 2.9 percent compared to September 2009. Year-to-date, the first nine months of 2010 have shown a slight increase in collections. As of September 2010 sales tax collections are up 2.3 percent compared to collections from January-September 2009.
Use tax collections: $733,720, an increase of 38.2 percent compared to September 2009. The use tax collections year-to-date are up 14.2 percent compared to collections for the first nine months of 2009.
National collections: August sales tax collections (as reported on September 14) increased 3.7 percent compared to Fort Collins’ increase of 2.9 percent.
Building permit collections: increased 16.5 percent in September.
Residential: 8, compared to 14 in September 2009. Residential remodels: 74 permits. In September 2009 there were 55 remodel permits.
Commercial: 1 permit for new construction, 30 for remodeling. In September 2009 zero permits were pulled for new construction, 15 permits for remodeling.
Sales tax licenses: 65 net new licenses were issued.
