Winter Bike To Work Day
December 16th marked the third annual Winter Bike to Work Day. The City's FC Bikes program started this tradition in 2007 to encourage more bicyclists to ride during the winter months and I'm happy to say the event has grown each year. (60% from 2007 to 2008). We've had some great breakfast stations in the past, offering items such as, pancakes, sausages, bacon, burritos, locally baked bread, bagels, fruit, coffee, and juice. There have even been sightings of live cows (for milk only!), fires to keep warm, live music, and much more.
The 2009 Winter Bike to Work Day increased by 200 participants from 2008!
The event is a community effort and it wouldn't be possible without our sponsor's commitment to bicycling in Fort Collins. It's events like these that keep our local bike culture thriving.
Some people, at first, thought we were crazy for hosting a Winter Bike to Work Day, but once they gave it a go, they realized how easy and fun it is to do.
