Bicycling Safety Tip: It is not safe to seek cover under a trail underpass during times of intense thunderstorms.  Heavy rains can create flood conditions and trail underpasses can be very dangerous.  Always move to higher ground!

~ Bike to Work Day Worksite Challenge winners! Local businesses were challenged with encouraging the most employees to Bike to Work.  Here are the winners:

10 employees or less: 2-way tie: Casa Tunes and Energy Solutions Unlimited (100%)

11-25 employees: Ultimate Escapes (100%)

26-50 employees: REI (77%)

51-150 employees: Rio Grande (84%)

150+ employees: New Belgium Brewing

City Department: Transportation Planning (100%)

~ The final bike race of the City Streets Crit Series is tonight at the Streets Dept.(625 9th Street).  Races begin at 6:00pm.  Race organizers have been very impressed with the turnout over the last three weeks and expect a big night tonight.  If you haven't witnessed this event yet, tonight's your last chance to check out the thrills of road bike racing.  Visit Your Group Ride to view photos of the race series.  Special thanks to the City's Streets Dept., the Fort Collins Velodrome Association, Ciclismo Racing, New Belgium Brewing, The Cycologist, Backcountry Provisions, Otterbox, and Black Sheep Junior Racing Team, and for planning, promoting, and supporting a fantastic race event series. 

~ Just as the City Streets Crit race series come to a close, the 6 Day Races at the CSU Oval get started! On July 12, the Fort Collins Velodrome Association will launch another fun 6-day race series on the CSU Oval. The races run every Sunday through August 16. There are categories for fixed-gear and freewheeling bicycles, so come on down and try it out!  Sundays: 3:00pm - 7:00pm.  Presented by Associates in Family Medicine. 

~ The Fort Collins Bike Co-op is hosting a Traffic Skills 101 Course on July 18th for residents interested in pursuing the League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor Certification.  This 8 hour class (4 hours in the classroom & 4 hours on bikes) will be held at Rivendell School (1800 E. Prospect Ave.) 8:00am-5:30pm. 
Cost is $60, contact Anthony for more information or to sign up. 

~ Troutman Parkway Pedestrian & Bicycle Crossing Options Open House - Monday July 20th, 4:00-7:00pm at Quality Inn & Suites (4001 S. Mason Street).  Please attend the open house to discuss the proposed crossing options.

~ New World Sports has scheduled the Co-Pilots tandem bike ride for Monday, July 13, They will be meeting at the Environmental Learning Center at 6:00 PM.  The ELC is north of Drake Road on Environmental Drive (East of Timberline, just west of Ziegler). This is a great opportunity to help people, who are visually challenged, enjoy the fun of riding a bicycle.
