~ March 29th   Tonight! Plan Fort Collins – Transportation Focus Group - 7:30pm – 9:00pm

(215 N. Mason – Community Room) This year, the City will lead a major visioning effort to define our community's future. Plan Fort Collins is a community-wide effort to create a new City Plan and Transportation Master Plan.  This event will focus on transportation and citizens are encouraged to provide input. April & May 2010 Calendar:
                    

~ April 2nd       Art Show at the Bike Co-op - 5:00 - 9:00pm.  Featuring live music, refreshments, and snacks.  The Bike Co-op is also featuring a series of bike education events and bike town meetings through the month of April.  Check out the calendar for event times, topics, and locations.

 

~ April 3-4th    FC Bike Library 2010 Season Opener – The FC Bike Library is poised for another big year of bicycle lending and Bike Fort Collins is giving away a bicycle to commemorate the 2010 season.  Register to win a bike by checking out a bicycle from the library on opening weekend!  Café Bicyclette station hours in Old Town Square:

10:00am – 6:00pm ~Thursday – Sunday.

~ April 14th     Bike Lunch Talk –12:00pm - 1:00pm - Become Fit (1611 S. College Ave - Suite 2A) Bring a lunch and hear about the newly formed Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition and get the straight facts on safe bicycling in Fort Collins. 

 

~ April 19-23   Bike to School Week - Bike to School Week is set for April 19-23.  The City and Bicycle Colorado are planning a number of events to celebrate safe walking and bicycling throughout Fort Collins.

·        Bike to School Day on Wednesday, April 21st

~ April 22nd     Earth day Celebration at CSU’s Plaza - 10:00 - 2:30pm. Join CSU departments, student groups, and FC Bikes for an afternoon of Earth-friendly activities. 

 

~ April 22nd     Earth Day Celebration on E. Mountain Ave.  12:00 – 5:00pm. 

Enjoy live music, snack, demos, and activities about growth and sustainability just east of Old Town Square on Mountain Avenue.  Sponsored by AECOM and the Food Coop, music sponsored by Bohemian Companies.  Donations will help Happy Heart Farms Feeding the Families Program.

 

~ April 24th      12th Annual Spring Warm-up Ride, sponsored by the Fort Collins Cycling Club.  The event benefits the Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition.  For more information on the ride, please click here.

 

~ April 25th      Benefit Concert by Mongolian Performers (Time TBA) - Lory Student Center Theatre, featuring traditional Mongolian dancing, music, costumes, and a contortionist!  All funds will benefit the Sisi Scholarship administered by Global Reach in honor of Urangua “Sisi” Mijiddorj, who was killed in a bicycle accident last August.  Contact Khishig Jamiyansharav or Sonya Le Febre for more details.  More information will follow.          

~ April 29th      FC Bikes Safety & Education Presentation #1 - 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Senior Center (1200 Raintree Dr.)   The City’s FC Bikes program is hosting a presentation to teach residents the fundamentals of safe bicycling.  Learn the basics of bicycling, proper clothing and equipment, riding safely with traffic, laws, nutrition & hydration, proper etiquette, and common cyclist errors.  Presentations are designed for people of all ages and abilities. 

~ May 1st        2nd Annual Wellington Warm-Up Bike Tour – Main St. Market (7670 5th St. Wellington, CO).  This warm up ride offers three routes to choose from: 15, 29, and 44 miles.  Benefit for the Wellington Boys and Girls Club and Food Bank. To register, please visit Warm-Up Ride

~ May 2nd       Ram’s Bicycle Classic - New Belgium Brewing Company – Three rides to choose from: Metric and ½ Metric Century, and Family Cruiser Ride.  Supports scholarships for the CSU Global Social & Sustainable Enterprise program.  For event start times and event registration, please visit Ram Bicycle Classic.org

~ May 6th        FC Bikes Safety & Education Presentation #2 - 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Senior Center (1200 Raintree Dr.)   The City’s FC Bikes program is hosting a presentation to teach residents the fundamentals of safe bicycling.  Learn the basics of bicycling, proper clothing and equipment, riding safely with traffic, laws, nutrition & hydration, proper etiquette, and common cyclist errors.  Presentations are designed for people of all ages and abilities.   

~ May 7th        Bike Safe Summer CSU! – 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Lory Student Center Plaza at CSU.  Try out the bike handling skills course, win prizes, and get educated on how to bike safely and effectively over the summer.  More info to come soon.

~ May 12th      Bike Lunch Talk –12:00pm - 1:00pm - Become Fit (1611 S. College Ave - Suite 2A) Bring a lunch and join us while we talk about plans to expand bicycle facilities in Fort Collins, including bike parking, bike trails, share the road signs, and bike lanes. 

 

~ May 13th      FC Bikes Safety & Education Presentation #3 - 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Senior Center (1200 Raintree Dr.)   The City’s FC Bikes program is hosting a presentation to teach residents the fundamentals of safe bicycling.  Learn the basics of bicycling, proper clothing and equipment, riding safely with traffic, laws, nutrition & hydration, proper etiquette, and common cyclist errors.  Presentations are designed for people of all ages and abilities. 

~ May 15th      FC Bikes Safety & Education Class #1 – 9:00am – 12:00pm at the Senior Center (1200 Raintree Dr.)   The City’s FC Bikes program is hosting a ‘hands on’ bike safety and education class to teach and practice with participants the fundamentals of safe bicycling.  Learn the basics of bike maintenance, bike handling, and how to avoid crashes and road hazards.  Classes are designed for people of all ages and abilities.  Bicycle and helmet is required, please RSVP if a bicycle and/or a helmet is needed for this experiential class.

~ May 16th      Six Day Races at CSU Oval – 3:30pm - 7:00pm Consecutive Sundays beginning May 16th through June 20th.  Experience the thrills of competitive bike racing while enjoying the ambiance of CSU’s historic Oval.  For more information, visit: Fort Collins Velodrome Association


 ~ May 22nd    Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day - Join Overland Mountain Bike Club for a morning of family-friendly mountain biking. Kids and parents will hit the trail for a fun ride in Pineridge Natural Area. Groups will be organized by age and ability. Free event. Pre-registration required and will be available soon at Overland Mountain Bike Club.
