Affordable Housing & Human Services
The City of Fort Collins assists low-moderate income citizens of Fort Collins in the areas of affordable housing and human services. This assistance comes in the form of grants or loans to local housing agencies and human service providers in our community. Twice a year we allocate funds through a competitive process. The funding for the competitive processes comes from federal and local dollars. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME). The City’s general fund provides funding through the Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) and the Human Services Program (HSP).
Long Range Planning
We primarily prepare and manage City Plan, Fort Collins' comprehensive plan including its related subarea and corridor plans; we also manage special projects involving land use, transportation, growth management, and urban design. In addition, we collect and analyze a variety of data (land use, transportation, demographic, housing etc.) for use in monitoring plan progress and policy making.
Transportation Planning
We provide a variety of services related to the planning of safe and efficient mobility for automobile, transit, bicycle and pedestrian modes of travel. Our group is primarily involved in the preparation and management of the Transportation Master Plan and its related elements including the Master Street Plan, Pedestrian Plan, Bicycle Plan, and the Safe Routes to School program.
