Cheryl Pietrangelo nominated her husband, Jim Pietrangelo. Jim is involved with the Special Olympics. He presents to junior high and high school students on the values of succeeding. In addition to his inspirational involvement with volunteering, his occupation as a firefighter is noble and heroic. Carrying the Olympic torch "is an opportunity to carry the symbol that represents both the spirit of competition and the gathering of many nations to an event that harbors sportsmanship and peace." He is excited that Cheryl was also invited to run with him. Cheryl believes that the Olympic torch symbolizes "the spirit of competition and the importance of teamwork; the drive to succeed and excel; and the ability to find the motivation inside yourself to strive to meet your goals."
