During the Korean War, Rasmus Erdal served as a ski trooper in Alaska. As a New York City Teacher, he served his students for 35 years. At the age of 70, the list of groups he volunteers for is endless: Habitat for Humanity, National Forest Service Poudre Wilderness, Loveland Mountain Club hike leader, Children's ski instructor, Sons of Norway officer, Church Stewardship Committee and Sculpture Show volunteer. His daughter, Kristi Erdal, claims that her father is "the rock" everyone relies on. Rasmus says, "It is an awesome feeling to participate with all the other inspirational torchbearers in this once-in-a-lifetime honor."
