There was a great turnout for the 2002 Olmpic Torch Relay! View pictures of the day's festivities here.
The Torch will begin its journey through Fort Collins at Garfield and Lemay, near Poudre Valley Hospital, at 8:27 a.m. It will travel south to Prospect, west to Stover, north to Elizabeth, west to Mathews, north to Walnut, west to College, south to Mulberry, west to Howes, south through the CSU oval, east on University, south on College to the Foothills Fashion Mall, and then back on College, ending at Troutman Parkway.
One minute has been allotted for each one-tenth of a mile. Following are some times to help you determine when the Torch will be at specific locations:
- Garfield & Lemay - 8:27 a.m.
- Lemay & Prospect - 8:31 a.m.
- Prospect & Stover - 8:37 a.m.
- Stover & Elizabeth - 8:41 a.m.
- Elizabeth & Mathews - 8:46 a.m.
- Fort Collins Museum - 8:56 a.m.
- Walnut & College - 9:01 a.m.
- College & Mulberry - 9:07 a.m.
- CSU oval - 9:11 a.m.
- University & College - 9:17 a.m.
- 2109 College - 9:29 a.m.
- College & Swallow - 9:40 a.m.
- Foothills Fashion Mall - 9:43 a.m.
- TORCH remains at Mall for 15 minutes
- College & Horsetooth - 10:05 a.m.
- 4025 College (REI) - 10:11 a.m.
- End at Troutman Parkway - 10:13 a.m.
The Torch Relay will stop for a 15-minute break at the Foothills Fashion Mall.
Festivities at the break site will begin at 9:00 a.m. The break site event will include speeches and autographs by former Fort Collins Olympians Amy Van Dyken and Libbie Hickman, an appearance by Lloyd Garcia, the oldest Olympian from Fort Collins, and comments from local dignitaries. Riffenburg Elementary School will perform at the event, and a "Banner Hall of Fame" depicting photographs of all Torchbearers selected from Fort Collins will be featured. Coca-Cola and Chevrolet, 2002 Olympic sponsors, will also provide activities at the break site. The Torch will arrive at 9:43 a.m., and the break site ceremonies will conclude at 10 a.m.
