Loretta Capra's involvement with the Cinco Cinco 5K Scholarship Run/Walk is conducted in memory of Gil Gutierrez, Colorado State University Ombudsman. While on a training run in early August of 1993, Gil was hit and killed by a drunk driver. He was a wonderful, caring individual with a tremendous love of life. "I am carrying the torch as a tribute to Gil in his honor and memory, as well as all the Cinco Cinco volunteers that help keep his memory alive." This event has earned over $20,000 to endow a scholarship at CSU. Over 20 scholarships have been awarded to CSU students.
